This year may just end up being the year of a million questionable romance novels. They’re so escapist, so wistful, and in general I really like Albert’s writing style and characters.
This is the third book in the #gaymers series after Status Update and Beta Test, and it was just as adorkable. I won’t even pretend I remember the other two. I mean I remember bits and pieces, the good and bad, but mostly I just remember they made me smile and I was able to recognize the characters when they made brief appearances in this book of the series.

Talk about a gut punch of an ending.
This is another great introduction into manga in that it’s easy to follow the reverse (for western readers) style of reading any type of book. The lack of explicit sex and (often internalized) homophobia also make this more appealing to western audiences that might not necessarily want to read/see something that explicit.
I think what I like about this series more than most of the others is that it pays as much homage to the cult of Austen as it does to the original Austen works. Each of the books in this trilogy (maybe the series?) take a lead from one of Austen’s original novels, but then move away from it diving into the fantastical world of the Janeites. Connelly once again dropped a tidbit of Austen-dom knowledge I wasn’t aware of in the Austen Authors website, which was a neat discovery, but seems to have undergone a major change since it was originally mentioned in this book. I wasn’t obsessively looking forward to this since I had issues with my timing of reading the first two volumes, but when I went to grab
