Book 1,023: Catered All the Way – Annabeth Albert

Seriously, y’all I say it every time and re-reading the few notes I took as I type this up months later ALL THE FEELS come back so fast and then when you add in the two cameos from her Out of Uniform series and The Geek Who Saved Christmas, it just gets even better!

This one of those close proximity, long pining younger brother of a friend romances and I am here for it. There was minimal angst and the story moved along pretty quickly. Atlas, a marine who seems to know a few people from the Out of Uniforms series, has come home for Christmas. He was going to stay with Zeb’s brother, but the house is chaotic with twins on the way and in-laws in town. So, Zeb, a professional gamer, sees this as his opportunity to invite Atlas to stay with him and maybe something will happen in the close proximity—and it sure does.

Book 1,022: Kiss and Cry (Love on the Ice #2) – Keira Andrews

Book cover of "Kiss and Cry" with Amazon Affiliate linkI’m pretty sure I stumbled across this one before I realized it was part of a “series” with Only One Bed and apparently a couple other books seem to have been retconned into the series (pretty sure those protagonists are definitely mentioned in this one. At the time I was looking for more diverse protagonists on the covers of the MM Romance novels and this one popped up and here we are months and months later.

Kiss and Tell is the story of the top two men’s figure skating competitors, Canadian Henry (Sam’s older brother from Only One Bed), who is technically proficient and seemingly standoffish and rigid, and American Theo, the party boy of skating who makes up for what he lacks in proficiency with emotions and crowd engagement. So of course this is an opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers romance and yup, still here for it.

Book 1,021: Only One Bed (Love on the Ice #1) – Keira Andrews

Book cover of "Only One Bed" with Amazon Affiliate linkI’m not sure if I would say Keira Andrews is the Queen of Christmas for me, but she really does bring it when she writes holiday themed MM Romance novels. Every time I go to read one, she has a new one and if they’re always fun, relatively low angst and swoon worthy.  Only One Bed is a friends to lovers, one bed/forced proximity, bisexual awakening novel and as per usual I am here for it.

Sam and Etienne have been friends since they were children. Etienne is a competitive couples ice dancer and is trying to make the Olympic team. I can’t remember what Sam did, but he’s at a lot of the same competitions because his older brother Henry is one of the best singles skaters in Canada (and we get his novel with Kiss and Cry, I mean come on read the last quote we all knew what was going to happen).

Book 1,020: Not So Silent Night – H.L. Day

I think I added it to my list when I went through the “How many MM Holiday Romances can I read in a month?” phase. Either way it sat there until now and I was flipping through looking for a light hearted read after the dense nonfiction of The West.

Starting out, I really wasn’t sure if it was going to be a hate read to finish it or if I was going to actually start to enjoy it. We start off with Xander, a spoiled elitist model who really annoyed me, but he kind of gets his comeuppance with a really bad ski injury and his dick of a boyfriend’s response. We then pick up with Ferris, who as much as I ultimately enjoyed his character, is an over the top nurse who takes a hit right as things are starting to look up! But this allows for the meet-cute and the story runs from there.

Book 1,011: Catch Me If I Fall – Noah Steele

Book cover of "Catch Me If I fall" with amazon Affiliate linkThis book had so much that I wanted to love, but only just enjoyed. To be fair, a lot of the pressure was from me and if I would’ve read the book any other time, I probably would’ve been enamored. I picked this up after not reading anything for leisure for almost 6 weeks and after I finished this it took another almost 12-weeks to pick up another, even though it was summer, and I didn’t have as much school or heavy workload at work.

It’s not a badly written book, it’s well written and copywritten, which is an even better bonus. It just wasn’t the right time for me to read it. There were moments that the story felt stretched too thin and went on too long, especially looking back at it. Somehow how though, it didn’t end cleanly enough so much so that I picked my Kindle up a week or two after finishing it thinking I still had quite a bit to read.
