Book 851: One to Watch – Kate Stayman-London

Blazed through this wonderful debut novel after stumbling across it on a list of great beach reads. It took quite a while to get it from the library, but it was 100% worth the wait. I can easily see this being turned into a film or made-for-TV-movie, but it’s better than some of the young adult gay one’s I’ve read recently.

Bea is a plus sized fashion blogger who writes a scathing take down of a reality TV show that’s suspiciously similar to The Bachelor, and the next thing she knows she’s been convinced to be the next Main Squeeze on the show and of course chaos, hilarity, and romance ensues.

Book 843: The Midnight Library – Matt Haig

Clearly, I grabbed this one for the title and the fact that it seems everyone is reading it. Seriously, I saw at least three or four copies while on vacation and it’s been popping up sporadically on book blogs since its initial release last year.

I didn’t really have an idea of what it was about so was a little taken aback by the opening line but then was totally on-board when I re-read the back blurb. In essence the book follows Nora as she tries to find the life she wants to live by visiting all her potential selves after attempting suicide.

Book 820: Treble Maker (Perfect Harmony #1) – Annabeth Albert

I grabbed this one when Albert shared an ominous “these might be leaving Kindle Unlimited soon” on her Facebook. This was one of the few series of hers I haven’t read yet (and honestly had been avoiding for some unknown reason). I also grabbed it because we randomly re-watched Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 recently.

I’m not 100% sure, but I believe this was her first published series. You can tell she’s definitely grown a lot as an author since it was published. Her writing has matured and her stories and characters are so much richer and more believable.

Book 776: Star Spanked (Holiday Romance #3) – Leighton Greene

And to finish off 2020 I finish off the kinky romance trilogy I unexpectedly walked into. Instead of a Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa (those are so hard to find!) or New Year’s MM Romance I read a 4th of July Independence Day novel!? Oh well, I actually ended up reading one more MM Holiday Romance after the first because I forgot I’d put it on hold at the library.

Star Spanked finds us once again deep in the kink world of Los Angeles. We find out that Jon and Connor from Winter Wonders are now engaged (or married) and Tristan and Seth from Taming Tristan play a decent sized role in this novel as Ezra, a model seeking to get out of the industry is Tristan’s roommate. The other protagonist is semi-celebrity British ex-pat Sebastian.

Book 775: Taming Tristan (Winder Wonders #2) – Leighton Greene

If Winter Wonders was an introduction to BDSM/kinky mm romance, this one directly to advanced. Not only are we thrown into the deep end of the LA kink scene, but we’re thrown into what I’m gathering is a pretty niche group, primal, within the scene.

This being said I felt Greene did a thorough job of further educating her readers about the various aspects of D/s play and relationships. I mean I feel more educated even if I did have to Google (incognito of course) various things.
