Book 1,071: To the Moon and Back – N.R. Walker

Book cover of "To the Moon and Back"N.R. Walker might just be the queen of low-angst MM Romance. Every book I’ve read by her has had minimal angst—usually caused by lack of self confidence or the evergreen male trait of refusing to talk to each other—and every one has been absolutely lovely. And To the Moon and Back was no different.

I grabbed this one when I wanted a quick read and for some reason was like “I’d love to read a single dad romance.” It didn’t hurt it was a grumpy/sunshine that I also truly enjoyed. It features Gideon, an exhausted first time dad to his adopted nephew, Benson, whose partner abandoned him because of the adoption, and Toby, a nanny with a background in early childhood education, who moves in to help as Gideon returns to his full time work.

Book 1,048: I Think Our Son Is Gay Vol. 5 (I Think #5) – Okura

I’m just so overwhelmed with the wholesomeness and perfection that is this little series.

The first four books were so endearing, I knew I would have to read the final one as soon as possible. It took a little while as it was the most recently released (just under a year at the time of reading it), but it was well worth the wait.

Book 1,043: Northranger – Rey Terciero & Bre Indigo

I don’t know how I didn’t know about this one sooner. I mean, I do. Life has been incredibly busy and non-stop post-pandemic, and 2022-2024 was a blur of classes and life, which explains how this 2023 release slipped under my radar, but OMG I’m so glad I found it. Terciero takes Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey and turns it into a wonderful MM romance while Bre Indigo does a fantastic job of capturing a Texas ranch in this adaptation.

Books 1,037-1,040: I Think Our Son Is Gay, Vols. 1-4 (I Think #1-4) – Okura

Y’all, I can’t even tell you how adorable these books are. Think Heartstopper, but without the getting together (they’re younger than Nick and Charlie) and the beautiful acceptance of My Brother’s Husband and you’ll start to see where these fall.

These are told from mom Tomoko’s point of view, and she is the most loving and accepting person. She’s started to note that Hiroki, her oldest son, slips up saying “he’s handsome” or “my husband” and she just goes with the flow. She doesn’t ask questions or ask for declarations, she just let’s it slide and tries to make an accepting home for her son.

Book 954: Heat Wave (The Extraordinaries #3) – T.J. Klune

After the cliffhanger of Flash Fire, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. I was approved for a copy a few months ago and of course, sat on it for too long and missed the archive date.* Thankfully, I had downloaded a copy so was able to finish it up on the plane flying out to Chicago earlier this week.

The beginning was a little bit rough as there seemed to be a key piece of information missing from the story, but I figured out pretty quickly what was going on. It was all connected to the cliffhanger of Flash Fire so spoiler warning for after the jump.
