Book 842: One Man Guy (One Man Guy #1) – Michael Barakiva

I didn’t plan to read this in an afternoon, it just happened 😀 Started it on my lunch break and then just kept going.

At some point last year, I requested a copy of this via NetGalley but was either denied or never heard back and as I was cleaning up my account I saw it listed somewhere and was like “oh that one did sound interesting,” so I checked my library and they had a digital copy and here we are.

Book 823: All Note Long (Perfect Harmony #3) – Annabeth Albert

What a nice end to this trilogy and you could really tell how much Albert improved as an author just across these three books! I really liked the reality TV/musician angle of the books and am glad I finally read them.

All Note Long takes a character we’re familiar with, Michelin, the producer/mentor of both groups from Treble Maker and Love Me Tenor, and gives him the microphone. But what few people know outside of his immediate friends and staff that need to know is that Michelin is closeted and wants to come out. The story really kicks off when he meets Lucky, a go-go dancer  of Argentine descent at a gay night club and is immediately drawn to him. They kiss, someone films it, and shit hits the fan.

Book 809: Heartstopper, Vol. 3 (Heartstopper #3) – Alice Oseman

[Check out my updated (Feb 2022) response to Heartstopper Vol. 3 here.]

Well, my organized reading list has already been disrupted. I pre-ordered this back in December and didn’t really forget that I ordered it, but forgot when it was supposed to arrive. So, when it arrived while I was out of town last week I knew I couldn’t put off reading it—and frankly I’m impressed I lasted the four days I did!

These are so stinking adorable. I can’t believe I’ve managed to keep myself from finishing the series on the website, knowing it’s there! So, kudos to me for having some self-restraint in some part of my life 😀 If only I could figure out how to do that with food . . . I know for sure there’s at least one more, I’ve ordered it already, but I’m not sure how many more she’ll squeeze in between this and Solitaire.

Book 787: Winter Ball (Winter Ball #1) – Amy Lane

Oh how the tides of turned, these days I’m like GIVE ME ALL THE MM Holiday Romances, whereas when I first read Lane’s Christmas Kitsch back in 2013 I was much more cautious and actively staying away from them. At last check as I write this, I have over 22 books tagged with holiday romance. HA!

I have no memory of that first book I read which mostly tells me that it wasn’t bad. Looking back over my review and my rating of three-stars just reiterates it was a middle of the road book with no major problems and I kind of feel that’s where this one ends up too: probably not the most memorable book, but nothing so egregiously wrong that I’ll remember it only for that.

Book 780 & 781: Heartstopper, Vols. 1 & 2 (Heartstopper #1 & #2)- Alice Oseman

[Check out my Feb 2022 updated response to Vol 1. and my Feb 2022 updated response to Vol. 2.]

I’ve pretty much been waiting since last June to read this one. I absolutely adored Heartstopper, Vol. 1 and cannot wait for the next one this summer!

This post is a two-for-one as there was no way I could go into this without reading the first one again and they’re just so adorable. Really, this should be four-for-one because I read each twice because they’re so quick. I always read them once through focusing on the text and first impressions and then a second time focusing more on the graphics. And it’s worth it!
