Book 764: All I Want – Stella Starling

This is book five of what will almost certainly be at least 12 Holiday MM Romances this year. What can I say? They’re better than watching the hetero Hallmark/Lifetime movies. Don’t get me wrong, I like those too, but I just want these this year.

This is the story of Elliott, an adorable charitable naive department store clerk, and Ash, the troublemaker son of the department store owner, and by far this is the one that is best set to be adapted into an actual Hallmark/Lifetime movie that I’ve read.

Book 763: Mistletoe in the Marigny (Five Points Stories #3) – Kyle Baxter

As promised I am 100% leaning into the MM Christmas Romances. I would say I’m going to limit myself to 12 to parallel the days of Christmas (this is the 4th of six I’ve already read), but who knows what is going to happen. I have now found so many I want to read and every time I find one I truly enjoy I add the author to my list of authors to look into for other non-holiday books.

I was of course going to read this one after finishing The Problem with Mistletoe and Bring Me Edelweiss and thoroughly enjoying them. And, when you add in that in the front matter Baxter explicitly states the reason he wrote these was because there were no LGBTQ+ holiday romance movies when he was growing up, I am here for it.

Book 760: Bring Me Edelweiss (Five Points Stories #2) – Kyle Baxter

As promised, here’s the next in the Christmas/Holiday MM romances 😀 I read this one immediately after the first even though I had every intention of crossing at least one of my outstanding nonfiction ARCs off my list. I was smart after finishing this one and made myself finish a nonfiction before I got to read the third in this series!

As much as I enjoyed The Problem with Mistletoe, this one ramped up the cheese and I am here for it. It was less about Christmas than the first (and I’m assuming the last, Mistletoe in the Marigny), but between the super nerdy tall guy (Joel), the beefy veteran prince of a small European nation (Freddie) it worked for me.

Book 758: Better Not Pout – Annabeth Albert

I grabbed this a few months ago when it went on sale and saved it for the holidays. I had every intention of waiting until December, but Thanksgiving happened and Lifetime/Hallmark movies started showing and I wanted more LGBT+ characters (I know there are a few this year but I haven’t had the chance to see them) and I remembered I had this one already so here we are.

The story starts off slower than many of Albert’s other works, but the characters are just as well written and the plot works for what it is. Nick, a beefy retiring military man, is cornered into volunteering with a local charity and meets Teddy, an over the top do-gooder, and fireworks don’t fly right away, but they slowly build until the grand finale.

Book 757: Screens Apart – Charlie Novak

After finishing Strawberry Kisses rather than do the responsible thing and keep going down my galley list to the next nonfiction book I wanted to get done before the end of 2020, I sought out the book Novak mentions these characters made their first appearance.

SO responsible right? I at least enjoyed it, I’ll just have to remind myself that as I slog through those nonfiction works in the next few weeks.
