Book 699 & 700: Two for Trust – Elle Brownlee

Holy. Hell.

Apparently, this is the MM Romance novel I’ve been looking for. I had no idea it was what I needed until I read it, and then immediately turned around and re-read it again. I am not joking about this—I finished it in bed one night and then halfway through the next day I started it again and finished it in bed that night.

I mean, this isn’t even that wonderfully written. There’s nothing really wrong with the writing, but there are no surprises, the crises is laughable (miscommunication obviously), and the whole Cinderfella story line is standard AF. But OMG I want it all and I want it again. What is actually wrong with me? I am 100% debating a third re-read, but that’s just ridiculous right?

Book 698: Arctic Sun (Frozen Hearts #1) – Annabeth Albert

I can’t very well stop my MM romance streak, if the local library decides to repurchase/and or release extra copies of books I place on hold well before I started this streak can I? We’re all in agreement? Good, because there are more to come 😀

In her Frozen Heart series, Annabeth Albert takes us to the wilds of Alaska and it is worth it. She managed to capture the magic and vastness all while turning the heat up on a budding romance with two characters balancing mental health/addiction issues.

Book 697: Under the Covers – K.C. Wells

I’m not sure how I haven’t gotten tired of these yet—I usually have by the third or fourth book—whatever it is I’m blaming coronavirus and the brain stupor. (I mean I’m not complaining I’m loving these, this is just an observation.)

After finishing a review copy I’d held on for longer than I should, I grabbed a few more of these from my local library (thanks Hoopla). I stuck with books by K.C. Wells because I enjoyed the others I read by her (My Fair Brady and The Senator’s Secret) and then grabbed a couple toward the top of the list when I sorted by “most popular.”

Book 695: Suddenly Yours – Jacob Z. Flores

Meh.

This one just didn’t do it for me as well as the others so far from the Dreamspun Desires imprint of Dreamspinner Press. I don’t think it was Flores’ writing style. It could be because he’s a man and the other were women. Or it could be because I didn’t particularly care for either of the protagonists.

I grabbed this one because of the Las Vegas setting and the cutie on the cover. I didn’t realize that he had that goofy look on his face (stupid small photos on hoopla) or I might’ve second guessed it.

Book 690: Off Base (Out of Uniform #1) – Annabeth Albert

Give me a minute to catch my breath . . . haahaa. No, seriously though. I didn’t read this through in one sitting, but I may as well have.

I’ve read two books with characters that would probably be in the Out of Uniform series by Annabeth Albert, Save the Date (with Wendy Qualls) and Connection Error. Both were great reads, but this one cranks it up. I’m not sure if it’s the sheer confidence of Pike, a just starting out college professor, or the hesitation and confusion of closeted virginal Navy Seal Zack.
