Book 842: One Man Guy (One Man Guy #1) – Michael Barakiva

I didn’t plan to read this in an afternoon, it just happened 😀 Started it on my lunch break and then just kept going.

At some point last year, I requested a copy of this via NetGalley but was either denied or never heard back and as I was cleaning up my account I saw it listed somewhere and was like “oh that one did sound interesting,” so I checked my library and they had a digital copy and here we are.

Book 833: You’re My Home – Katie Moore

Looking back at the review request for this, I’m not sure what drew me to it. Maybe it was the best friends, the religious homophobia, the slow-burn or the hurt/comfort friends to lovers draw.* Whatever it was, I’m glad I said yes because even though I was emotionally exhausted by the end of the novel it was 100% worth the 460-page slog!

You’re My Home is the story of Zach, an underdeveloped young man who survives an abusive religious family, and Brady, the wealthy outgoing football jock with a heart of gold. They meet when they’re young and the story spans five or six years and you feel every one of those years on the page.

Book 832: Jay’s Gay Agenda – Jason June

This book was 100% written to be adapted into a movie or tv show. It even had locations and some stage direction already included. Maybe it’s from June’s background, I’m not sure, but as I was reading it definitely felt like a teen RomCom from the early 2000s.

I grabbed this from the library after seeing it on someone’s Insta (sorry don’t remember who, but might’ve actually been June doing a takeover somewhere) and thinking what a great name for a book without knowing anything other than the name and basic premise.

Book 829: Out of Character (True Colors #2) – Annabeth Albert

If there’s one thing I don’t like about reading series as they’re released it’s all the small details I forget  between the books! I vaguely remember Jasper from Conventionally Yours, but only just. However, Annabeth Albert is the pinnacle when it comes to MM romances so when the opportunity arose I jumped for a review copy!*

Out of Character is the story of childhood best friends Jasper, nerdy gaymer geek with a heart of gold, and Milo, sporty problem child who hasn’t quite figured his life out yet. They stopped being friends when they were younger when Milo abandoned Jasper for his jock friends and Jasper held on to that hurt until this book. And I think second chance romances might be slowly climbing my trope list because this one was freakin’ adorable.

Book 827: Flash Fire (The Extraordinaries #2) – T.J. Klune

Holy sh!t balls . . . I knew this one would have a big ol’ cliff hanger and be just as adorable as the last one, but I. Was. Not. Prepared!

This book picks up right after where The Extraordinaries left off. We jump right back into the crazy world that is 16-year-old Nick’s brain. And what a joyous wonderful journey it is. There’s still a bit of fanfic, there’s a lot of awkwardness and internet searching/discovery and there’s the most adorable budding gayby/biby (is that a thing?) relationship that just made me go awwwww so many times.

FULL WARNING – DO NOT GO PAST THIS IF YOU DON’T WANT THE FIRST BOOK SPOILED and trust me you want to read these books!
