Book 712: Action (Murmur Inc. #2) – Quinn Anderson

This woman knows how to write a MM romance, or at least the sex scenes. I wasn’t so sure after reading Hotline which suffered from over description and somewhat stilted (non-sex) dialogue, but between that first book and this one Anderson vastly improved in my opinion.

Action takes us back to Murmur, Inc., but instead of the phone sex operators, we’re now on the porn side of the business. The bad ass sassy Collette is still in charge and still demanding the most/best from her employees. We have Pete, an adorkable power bottom in the porn star closet who meets Kyle, a daring rising porn star, and when they meet on set fireworks ensue.

Book 708: Hotline (Murmur, Inc. #1) – Quinn Anderson

Along with Walker’s The Weight of It All and Throwing Hearts, I picked this up as part of my Kindle Unlimited download spree after Tim got me a new Oasis for our anniversary.

If I’m honest, I picked this one because it didn’t have the traditional half-dressed/watermarked/super-model handsome cover model on it. Even with the super-hokey heart as an “o”, I liked how clean and simple the cover was. And maybe more importantly, I liked that I got to envision the characters without constantly thinking their descriptions are nothing like the cover models (which yes, I spend WAY too long thinking about this).

Book 706: Throwing Hearts – N.R. Walker

I might be nearing the end of this MM romance craze. I have a few more in the backlog, but in general I’m thinking my brain might need something a bit meatier. (I don’t know if that pun is intended or not because there has been plenty of meat in these books. [eyebrows eyebrows])

I’m not sure if this is a result of Walker’s writing style, there’s a maturity missing that is refreshing in the right moment, but also a little frustrating in most other moments, or if it’s reading so many back-to-back. I’m up to 23 this year (not counting heteromance or graphic novels) and the bulk of those have been in the last 6-10 weeks.

Book 705: The Weight of It All – N.R.Walker

For our anniversary Tim got me a new Kindle Oasis (so freakin’ fancy) and a Kindle Unlimited membership. I’d avoided the unlimited membership because of the rumors that it’s flooded with self-published works and knock off copies of popular works, but I am definitely going to take advantage of it and see if I can find out if it’s worth the rather steep price when I can get 95% of what I want from my local library.

My first stop, was of course MM romances because why not? I liked the premise of this one, a larger guy dumped because he gained weight and become complacent in his relationship slowly finding himself and falling for his hell-a hot trainer who has his own backstory. What I didn’t realize was that I had previously read a book by N.R. Walker, Upside Down, that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Book 704: At Attention (Out of Uniform #2) – Annabeth Albert

Damnit Annabeth Albert and Boston Public Library, quit making me read these! [Maybe, sort of? I’m actually checking now to see if there are more I can request—maybe this is a little bit on me 😀 Looks like Arctic Heat the third in her Frozen Heart’s trilogy is available, if I must . . .]

As soon as I consider reading something that isn’t a MM romance the BPL pings me to let me know they’ve either re-purchased one of Albert’s books and I’m first in line for it or one I’ve had on hold for ages has finally come off hold. Seriously though, they need to limit me or I’m never going to stop!
