Book 872: The Lights on Knockbridge Lane (Garnet Run #3) – Roan Parrish

I originally requested a copy of this from the publisher but was denied 🙁 Thankfully, my local library got digital copies so I didn’t have to wait too long! I’m still a little disgruntled they only had an “e-book” and not a kindle version, but I’ll get over it at least I got to read it!

After reading the first two books in Parrish’s Garnet Run series, Better Than People and Best Laid Plans, I had such high expectations for this one. In some ways it met them, Parrish is a wonderful author, but in other ways it fell short for me.

Book 794: Best Laid Plans (Garnet Run #2) – Roan Parrish

As soon as I found out there was going to be another book in the series that brought me Better Than People, I jumped on board with a request to the publisher.*

Taking place not long after BTP, Best Laid Plans features Charlie, the older brother of Jack from the first novel who has spent his life sacrificing for Jack since their parents died, and Rye, a down on his luck loner who has come to Wyoming after inheriting a dilapidated house because he has nowhere else to go.

Book 744: Better Than People (Garnet Run #1) – Roan Parrish

I of course grabbed a copy of this from NetGalley when I saw the cover because it’s freakin’ adorable.* I’m also, miraculously, pushing this post on the same day it’s published which RARELY happens! Don’t get me wrong, I love the ones with abs, but a cute dog and two guys clearly dressed for fall holding hands, sing me up.

This is the story of Jack, who breaks a bone in his leg/ankle while walking his pack of dogs, and Simon, a super anxious guy who loves animals but has trouble being around, speaking to or interacting with people.

Book 694: A Christmas Cabin for Two – K.D. Fisher

This is the third book . . . Who am I kidding? This is the eighth book in my MM romance book binge starting toward the end of March. If we go back to January 1st, it’s the tenth (excluding young adult and manga). So yeah, it’s been an interesting year so far. [And the understatement of the century goes to . . .]

I grabbed this because time has no meaning any more: 1) It snowed here in Boston this week; 2) When we were driving back from a Costco south of the city there was a Christmas billboard up; 3) earlier on Saturday neither Tim nor I could figure out the date, we were off by 5-ish days; and 4) Tim’s schedule is all sorts of wonky working nights and weekends and I’m working from home for the foreseeable future. So . . . yeah, time has no meaning any more. Why not read a holiday romance in the middle of April?

Book 645: The Porcupine of Truth – Bill Konigsberg

And, I’m back to playing catch up. The downside of all these teen/young adult rom-com books is that I read them so fast and I just want more that I end up going from being ahead on blogging to being two-to-three books behind in just days!

I got this this on Kindle download after reading The Music of What Happens and realizing I was only two books from finishing Konigsberg’s current works. It so happens I downloaded this the same day I went to the library too pick up two books and came back with six books, including the final Konigsberg I haven’t read, Honestly Ben, which I’ll get to probably in two-to-three days at the rate I’m reading these!
