Book 747: Camino Island – John Grisham

I read this after a coworker passed it on because he knew I loved books and this is a book about a book theft from a world class library and then set in a bookstore featuring mostly authors and booksellers. I mean come on that’s like catnip to a book blogger, right?

Unfortunately, this book was 100% forgettable. I’m not sure if it has to do with it not being a legal thriller or if it has to do with the weird split narrative. But whatever it was I just wasn’t feeling it.

Book 719: Wheels Up (Out of Uniform #4) – Annabeth Albert

I’m not sure if this is Albert’s first foray into kink, but honestly it was a little underwhelming on the kink front. The only reason I mention this and start my review with it is I feel like there was a warning or a mention of it in the front matter and I was like oh this should be interesting.

Maybe I’ve just read works with a lot more kink in them, even though it’s not my usual fare, but this one just seemed so tame. Either way, Albert continues to bring beautifully written character driven romances to my world, tugging at my heart strings will making me blush constantly.

Book 693: The Senator’s Secret – K.C. Wells

After picking up My Fair Brady from one of the daily Kindle emails with e-books on sale and thoroughly enjoying it, I looked into my library’s Dreamspun Desires listings and they had plenty. So, you’re welcome ;-D

I picked up this, A Christmas Cabin for Two and Suddenly Yours to start. I mean I do have 200ish books on my TBR shelf so I couldn’t go too wild (to start). I let Tim pick the next book I read by title and he picked this one (mostly because of the puppies mentioned on the cover) and it just happened to be by K.C. Wells, the same author as My Fair Brady.

Book 658: The Children of Harvey Milk – Andrew Reynolds

I’m not sure how I stumbled across this one, but when I did back in May I requested a copy from the publisher and they kindly obliged.* I was interested because of the subject matter, but also because Reynolds is based at UNC Chapel Hill (my undergrad) and his name rang a bell because he’d chaired the Sexuality Studies program there at some point in the recent past. And then with my master’s degree focusing on the Civil Partnership Act (2014) in the UK, of course I was going to want to read this book and see what he had to say.

November and December Recap 2018

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I’m not sure how, but somehow I actually got this scheduled to post New Year’s Day! Sure it’s a (late) recap of November and December 2018 and you’ll have to wait another week or so for my full 2018 look back, but I’m still impressed 😀

I wish I spent New Year’s Even in a hot tub, but alas I did not. I actually spent the first weekend in December in a hot tub, because I quit my job and we spent a long weekend in snow-covered New Hampshire. Have you ever seen a more relaxed faced? Mine hasn’t been that relaxed in a long time! Quitting was the right thing to do and later in December I received a new job offer which I am VERY excited about. But the leaving my job and gearing up for a new one were once again responsible for my slow reading and non responsiveness in November/December, but I’m slowly getting back into things.
