August Recap 2019

I think I’ve had a quintessential New England August, all that’s really missing was the Cape and/or the beach. Knowing how many people would be going that direction as summer winds down we went to the opposite direction to western Massachusetts and north to Maine. I’ll get to all of this at the end of the post, because we also saw “BODY WORLDS & The Cycle of Life” at the Museum of Science – Boston, “Gender Bending Fashion” at the Museum of Fine Arts, and John Williams night at Tanglewood. SO MUCH CULTURE.

Book 642: Evvie Drake Starts Over – Linda Holmes

I discovered Linda Holmes years ago when I started listening to NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour and reading what used to be called Monkey See but was re-branded recently to match the podcast. I’ve always appreciated her views and the people she brings to the discussion, so when she started to drop hints that she was working on a novel I was SUPER excited.

July Recap 2019

beach chair on crane's beach, massachusettsI have no idea how August is here. In July we went to Texas and the beach (why, it’s soooo hot??!?!) which allowed me to read a lot. Continue reading “July Recap 2019”

June Recap 2019

June was an incredibly busy month! We traveled to the West Coast for almost two weeks for a wedding and to see friends/family, I read 14 books, and we did some local exploration too. June was also pride month, and shockingly—we usually avoid it because I don’t like crowds and it’s usually too damn hot in June—we actually attended pride in Portland, Oregon. See what I did with the rainbow hop and the intro…yeah 😀

May Recap 2019

I would say I don’t know how I only read three books this month, but honestly I’m SURPRISED I read even that many, so yeah. May was an incredibly busy and hectic month, but there were also a few moments of pure relaxation.

After celebrating our 5th anniversary in Salem/Rockport, MA, Tim and I spent Memorial Day weekend with friends up in Maine (see lovely view above). In between, I purchased a condo (WTF?!) which included a whirlwind 24 hour trip down to VA, and got a whole lot of crap done at work.
