January Recap 2020

legs in shorts with water and sun in the distanceJanuary has been a weird month. It’s been over 70°F and close to 0°F a couple of times, I’ve been sick, we went to a travel fair, and I’ve knit a lot. I’m still trying to figure out where it went, but mostly looking forward to being on a cruise ship heading to the Caribbean in less than two weeks 😀

I’m trying to read a few shorter works so that I can have some posts published while we’re on vacation without internet access for a week, and more importantly I’m trying to figure out what books I’m going to take with me!

November & December Recap 2019

Christmas trees with decorationsNovember and December were a bit of a blur with three trips, the busiest time of year at work and a I had a strong desire to knit more than I’ve had in the last few months, so my reading slumped and my blog posting definitely slumped.

This post is a pretty light recap of the past two months with A LOT of photos. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen most of them, but I’ve included a few panoramic views from our trip to Death Valley National Park and a few others that didn’t make the Instagram cut. And if you want a good laugh go check out these photos I took at Badwater Basin in Death Valley since they’re not on here.

Falling Leaves & Turning Pages

With the fall leaves almost gone and daylight saving time behind us in the US, I thought it’d be a good time to look at some of my favorite fall reads. The nights are getting longer and the weather cooler, so what better thing is there to do than to curl up with a good book and read for those few extra hours of darkness? I missed the boat on Halloween reads, but I’ve included a bonus list at the end of some great Halloween reads!

October Recap 2019

It’s fall y’all! Although, in New England it’s rapidly approaching winter with how fast the leaves are changing. We made what has apparently become our annual trip up to Northern(ish) Maine to spend a quite weekend getting ready for all the holiday travel and to of course see the leaves changing colors. It was well worth the drive even if the house we rented was just past the peak leaf-peeping line. We stayed in Rangeley, Maine in the lakes region and visited UMaine Farmington on one of the days we were up there.

September Recap 2019

Kicked off the end of August and beginning of September with a long weekend up in Acadia National Park, Maine so thought I’d include a beautiful sunrise photo to wrap up the month.

Work has moved into full speed for the season, so I’m surprised I read as much as I did. I’ve also spent time reading longer articles on my to be read list (aka my Instapaper app), some of which have been there since January! I’m reading plenty of longer pieces (45-90 minutes reading time) and the good part about it is that I’ve read a wide range of articles from (closeted) gay neo-Nazis to millennials as the burn out generation, and weirdly this puts less stress on my goal of reading a nonfiction book every month.
