November & December Recap 2019

Christmas trees with decorationsNovember and December were a bit of a blur with three trips, the busiest time of year at work and a I had a strong desire to knit more than I’ve had in the last few months, so my reading slumped and my blog posting definitely slumped.

This post is a pretty light recap of the past two months with A LOT of photos. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen most of them, but I’ve included a few panoramic views from our trip to Death Valley National Park and a few others that didn’t make the Instagram cut. And if you want a good laugh go check out these photos I took at Badwater Basin in Death Valley since they’re not on here.

Book 621: Knit Tight (Portland Heat #4) – Annabeth Albert

And now I’m FINALLY to the book that started this binge and it was worth the wait. I was going to use “weight” for yarn weight but thought it might work so you get this awkward follow up.

Albert takes her characters even further away from your standard white male could be mistaken for straight romcom lead. We have Brady, the bisexual barista taking care of his four siblings after his parents untimely deaths, and Ev, the yarn store owner’s dedicated nephew who has come back to Portland because she’s dying of cancer who was originally sent from his home in Turkey because he was caught making out with a male friend.

February Recap 2019

February is such a short month. I kind of know where it went, but really I’m just kind of like alright this year is going to fly by let’s just embrace it. Or I could do like Tim and hide under his recently finished Christmas blanket I knit for him. (I’m thinking the latter, it’s a pretty comfy blanket!)

Now that I’ve finished all the 2018 Christmas presents I was working on (except for one last hat from left overs), I’ve started to work on a sweater for me. We’ll see how that goes. I didn’t read anywhere near as much this month as I’ve been wrapping up the knitting projects and I finally started watching Game of Thrones. I pushed through and got past the hurdle that kept stopping me and only have seven episodes left (AKA Season 7) to be fully caught up.

Book 597: Let Go of Emotional Overeating and Love Your Food – Arlene Englander

Toward the middle of last year I started accepting fewer and fewer unsolicited review requests, but periodically a few come up from publicists or publishers I’ve worked with previously and this was one of them.

As a larger guy, (are guys plus sized?) I’ve always been curious about over eating and overeaters anonymous, but there are so many other books to read that I never looked into them. So when the publicist reached out to me about this back in July 2017, I figured why not.* That being said, I should be ashamed I didn’t get around to reading it until early 2018 though.
