A Dozen Years of Book Blogging

What a year it’s been! Since last July, I finished a graduate certificate, started an MA program, and got a promotion at work. We traveled more than we have in the past two years, got COVID (ugh) from traveling, and as I’m typing this I’m in the airport waiting to hop on a last-minute flight to Chicago for a work thing (I don’t usually travel for work).

I’ve also read 116 books! That sounds like a lot, but it includes so many romance novels, quite a few graphic novels and manga, and not enough nonfiction, which is par for the course these days. That being said starting school again I’m sure I’ll be reading quite a bit of nonfiction but not blogging about it since it’s more long passages and chapters than entire books.

Elevenses

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find something that rhymes with eleven that’s not seven or heaven? Seriously, these suggestions (rhymezone.com) were laughable and so we ended up with second breakfast which I am here for.

As I surpass my eleventh year of blogging, I’m glad to say I’ve returned back to a more balanced schedule and cadence; and that my stats are reflecting this after a couple of down years where I wasn’t able to blog (or shock/horror, read) as frequently. My stats are up across the board and I’m sure would be even higher if I got back to interacting with other book bloggers, but that’s always a work in progress.

A Decade of Blogging

close up image of the #10 on a houseWhat a year. I’m still trying to comprehend how the last 1/3 has played out between coronavirus and global demonstrations against systemic oppression and working from home since March, like it’s just been a weird year since my last blogiversary.

Since last July 20, I have read 98 books. That is SHOCKING, but not really with the number of romance novels I’ve plowed through since March, but stills seems like a really high number. I’m glad over the past year I’ve continued reading whatever I want with little rhyme or reason, I’ve steadily inched closer to 700 books read and blogged about since I started blogging, and I surpassed 1,000 posts on here in the past year.

Elite Eight

Eight. Years. That’s how long I’ve been blogging almost continuously.

I have written about every book I’ve read in the last seven of those eight years because that first year was a bit iffy. When was the last time any of us did anything for eight years? I guess school would qualify, but I got summers off with that. With the exception of a couple of unplanned hiatuses this has been going strong for EIGHT YEARS. [Don’t you love that nod to sports – I’m hip right?]

Seven Years

Another year older, another year wiser — or something like that. Going into this year, I didn’t think anything could top last year, but boy was I wrong. Long story short, I’m still here.

I haven’t 100% worked out all the kinks when it comes to blogging, but I feel like I’m making progress back to my normal. Every time I hit schedule or post, I once again start to feel that thrill of the unknown and the limitless potential I used to feel on a regular basis. Somewhere in the last two years, I started to lose that thrill. Overwhelmingly, it was real life weighing me down, growing up sucks.
