Book 1,020: Not So Silent Night – H.L. Day

I think I added it to my list when I went through the “How many MM Holiday Romances can I read in a month?” phase. Either way it sat there until now and I was flipping through looking for a light hearted read after the dense nonfiction of The West.

Starting out, I really wasn’t sure if it was going to be a hate read to finish it or if I was going to actually start to enjoy it. We start off with Xander, a spoiled elitist model who really annoyed me, but he kind of gets his comeuppance with a really bad ski injury and his dick of a boyfriend’s response. We then pick up with Ferris, who as much as I ultimately enjoyed his character, is an over the top nurse who takes a hit right as things are starting to look up! But this allows for the meet-cute and the story runs from there.

Book 1,011: Catch Me If I Fall – Noah Steele

Book cover of "Catch Me If I fall" with amazon Affiliate linkThis book had so much that I wanted to love, but only just enjoyed. To be fair, a lot of the pressure was from me and if I would’ve read the book any other time, I probably would’ve been enamored. I picked this up after not reading anything for leisure for almost 6 weeks and after I finished this it took another almost 12-weeks to pick up another, even though it was summer, and I didn’t have as much school or heavy workload at work.

It’s not a badly written book, it’s well written and copywritten, which is an even better bonus. It just wasn’t the right time for me to read it. There were moments that the story felt stretched too thin and went on too long, especially looking back at it. Somehow how though, it didn’t end cleanly enough so much so that I picked my Kindle up a week or two after finishing it thinking I still had quite a bit to read.

Book 1,010: The Inside Edge – Ashlyn Kane

Book cover of "The Inside Edge" with Amazon Affiliate linkSo, if we’ve learned anything over 13 years of blogging, I enjoy most MM Romances tropes, but for some reason this past year I’ve been obsessed with hockey/figure skating romances. I don’t know why, maybe it’s that I’ve finally acclimated to New England, but they are just giving me life these days. This is the sixth one I’ve read in 2023 and I have at least 2-3 more coming before the calendar turns (but reviews won’t appear until early 2024).

Book 1,009: Long Time Coming – Ava Olsen

Book cover of "Long Time Coming"I’m not sure how I stumbled across this one, it was probably a random email from Prolific Works that I just happened to actually open and they happened to profile a MM Romance novel in it.

It’s the story of Chase, a news anchor, and Ashton, a nonprofit CEO, college acquaintances who reconnect later in life at a gala event hosted by Ashton. There’s drama and office gossip and Ashton’s adorable kid, Trent, calling things like they are even when the adults won’t.

Book 1,008: Out of Bounds (Browerton University #7) – A.J. Truman

Cliff, the jock, is a first year and making waves in the basketball world. He’s winning games and really making an impact on campus with his popularity. Brennan is the “failed” artist coming back to school to rekindle his mojo and find his inspiration.
