What a month . . .
Like so many others I’ve had to transition from going to work five days a week to working from home and it has been an interesting adjustment. If I’m honest, I honestly thought I would be reading more and I have, but it’s mostly news stories and work stuff as at first I overcompensated and then under-compensated as I adjusted, but in general haven’t done a lot of recreational reading. I have spent way too much time on Zoom calls, but at least some have been with friends (right).
I have however spent hours and hours re-knitting the same hat (Ravelry.com link) over and over again because I keep messing up at various places for various reasons. I’ve also spent dozens of hours slowly making my way through the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series which took way too long to get into, but it’s making me want to re-read the six Star Wars novels I kept from my massive collection growing up.
Books and Bookish Things
Even though I haven’t read as much as I thought I would I read five books, four of which were LGBTQ books, two of which were galleys, two which had been on my shelf for years and one classic novel. It was an interesting grab bag and some were better than others and hopefully I can read something in April. That’s my goal. Something.
- Lab Partners – Mora Montgomery*
- Camp Cutlery – Robin Carnilius*
- The Gravity of Us – Phil Stamper
- Ethan Frome – Edith Wharton
- A Gay Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum – Bert Shrader
The photo is from a trip to Clear Flour Bakery in Brookline and the front windows had 10-15 bookish bakery puns. What we got was incredibly delicious and I can’t wait to go back when things are re-open later this summer. Jump to the end to see the bread I made 😀
What’s Next?
Honestly, I’m looking forward to finally adjusting to work from home. I have at least another month, but assume that it’ll be a little longer. Learning to navigate my work and personal life all in the same space has been incredibly draining but I feel like I’m finding my balance. I’ve also had time to actually bake bread again which has been relaxing. (As I’m writing this I have a sourdough rising to go in the oven later this morning.)
The bread looks amazing and knitting, it sounds like you’re adjusting well to the changes.
Thanks, I am trying.
Geoff, the bread looks great! 😋
Thanks! It was delicious 😋
