I did it. I’m done. I completed all 30 items to the best I could (two are sort-of freebies/to-be-continued), but I’m counting them. If there was one I thought I might back out on it was getting a tattoo, but I knew three options I wanted: one was a quote, the second is what I got and the third was a back up in case they couldn’t do the one I got small enough. My sister and I are driving home for the holidays and we took a minor detour to stop over and visit my oldest friend and I decided that was when I was getting my tattoo and I did. That’s a photo of it and it’s on my chest – kind of where your fingers are when you pledge allegiance in the US.
I’ve always found tattoos fascinating but I never had the courage to go get one. When it came to putting holes in my body sure, I’ve got two cartilage piercings, but the tattoos just put me off for some reason. Maybe it was the intimidation of the tattoo parlors or just not knowing 100% if what I wanted was right, but in the end I’m glad I did it.
Alie took us to this totally sketchy part of town, which I guess is where most tattoo parlors are. My sister, who joined us, and I both were like uh where are you taking us to get murdered. Even the outside of the tattoo parlor was a little questionable, but as soon as we went inside I was at ease. It was spotless and the two artists who were there doing GIGANTIC tattoos on two people, were super friendly. We had to wait about 45 minutes for the next artist to show up.
The tattoo itself took less than two-minutes to do and the entire process (after he’d transferred it to the paper) took less than five 😀 It really is small, but like the artist said, no matter how small it is, it’s still a tattoo! The artist was pretty cool and told me about his work in a morgue and I was like WHOA. As an added bonus, my best friend from growing up, Alie, got the same tattoo! We got them in the same place and obviously, her’s is the hairy chest 😉
If you haven’t figured it out yet the tattoo is from Harry Potter! I’ll let you find it if you don’t know already. I think it’s funny that now when I pledge allegiance (which I don’t really ever do these days), I can just think about Harry Potter 😀
I plan to write a recap post early next year. For now I’m just going to enjoy the rest of my birthday and have fun!
Happy birthday for yesterday geoff and congrats for finishing your 30 x 30 ive been following and so glad you did! Also bravo for the tattoo, it took me the best part of a year to pluck up the courage for mine and i was terrified! Have a lovely christmas too 🙂
Thanks Steph! It’s still like oh I did that, and probably will be for a while. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Congrats on completing your 30×30! I love the tattoo — but I may be biased, as I have the same one! (on my foot, though, not my chest.)
Haahaa. Thats awesome! And thanks 🙂
Good for you for going through with it! Hooray for completing the list and a happy belated birthday as well!!!
Have a wonderful Christmas and a restful break until the new year!
Thanks! Have a great break as well!
Congratulations! I’ve had a tattoo in mind for about 15 years now and have never taken the step to getting it done. I hear it’s a slippery slope. You’ll have your whole chest done by 2016.
Ha! Maybe not my whole chest but definirely another couple. 😀
