April Recap 2022

We had a busy month full of hiking, travel, and knitting.

We kicked the month off by flying to Dallas for a family wedding and got to spend time with all of Tim’s family, but most importantly the niblings. It was great to see everyone, but what a whirlwind trip. We also had a bit of free time the day before the wedding and got to experience the Main St Fort Worth Arts Festival and Fort Worth Art Fair (hilariously even met an artist from Western Mass that we had a piece shipped home from).

March Recap 2022

March is gone and April is moving even faster. I’m not sure how it’s already the sixth but here we are. I’m sitting in an airport to fly to Texas for a wedding and just now catching my breath to be able to blog my recap.

March was really jam-packed from my celebrating my getting into the Harvard Graduate School of Education (see fun photo at the end) and a friend’s new job to hiking part of the Blue Hills. I also taught myself how to do color work knitting and we brought back date night. And this doesn’t even start to cover how busy I’ve been at work recently.

Book 923: Lucky Match (Hearts for Hire #1) – Raquel Riley

Book cover of "Lucky Match" with Amazon Affiliate linkNope. Unfortunately, that’s the bulk of my response if you want to skip the overall review. When this landed in my inbox I said yes and had such high expectations because the cover looks well done and the premise was a great idea.* Unfortunately, the execution was lackluster at best.

Lucky Match is the tale of Lucky McGuire, a cocky student who started a dating service near his college campus, and Hayes Brantley, his recently divorced professor who’s decided to lean into his bisexuality and date a man.

Book 910: Back Where I Come From (Five Points Stories #4) – Kyle Baxter

Book cover of "Back Where I Come from" with Amazon Affiliate linkThis is the fourth book by Baxter that I’ve read and is the fourth book in his Five Point Stories. It’s been languishing on my Kindle for a few months and I finally added it to my queue when I was preparing for a vacation that would result in a week of offline time.

My first observation of this one is that the cover is creepy AF. Seriously go to Goodreads or Amazon and blow up the image. I can’t quite put my finger on it but both Zach and Grant’s faces are just a little bit off and Taylor’s (the kid) just doesn’t quite look finished. Thankfully, I didn’t stare at it too much before starting or I might’ve put it off even longer!

January Recap 2022

What a snow month! I’m starting this post with the “dusting” (aka 8-10 inches we got in mid-January and I’ll end it with the two-plus feet we got with the official blizzard this past weekend.

I spent more time knitting (and watching knitting fibercasts) instead of reading, but managed to eke out a few books, including #900 which is still baffling considering I wasn’t sure I’d stick with this thing for even a year, let alone coming up on 12!
