Book 961: Levi’s Love (Maine Men #7) – K.C. Wells

Finally! The culmination of six books and we have every story of the group of friends 😀 Honestly, it wasn’t that long of a wait, but you know I snapped this up the second it appeared in my inbox.*

This final installment of Wells’ Maine Men series gives us the story of the remaining two singles in the group of friends: Levi, the pining virgin abandoned by his mother and raised by Grammy who created a home and a safe space for the band of friends, and Noah, obsessed with trains who thought he was asexual (but ends up demisexual) and was oblivious to Levi’s unrequited love.

Book 960: With Love from Wish & Co. – Minnie Darke

The recommendation for this book arrived from the publisher way back in April and me being me assumed I’d have PLENTY of time to read it before it was published.* But then I didn’t read it early, we got a puppy and I started school, so yeah needless to say it took me a lot longer to read than expected.

Thankfully it wasn’t the writing or the story that forced the long delay! For the most part, the story kept me engaged and moving forward with only a few slower spots or wait what moments.

Book 959: The Dove in the Belly – Jim Grimsley

When I finished re-reading Dream Boy back in May, I did a quick search to see what Jim Grimsley was up to these days and stumbled across this upcoming release. I reached out to the publisher for a copy and crossed my fingers it wasn’t going to be as traumatic or emotionally draining as the others I’ve read.*

The Dove in the Belly is the story of Ronny and Ben. It takes place on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus in the 1970s and that’s the main reason I wanted to read this, Grimsley went to UNC and having it set on the UNC campus intrigued me as I also went to UNC and remember some of the history around the early LGBT organizations and experiences on campus.

Book 958: My Love Mix-Up! (Vol. 4) – Wataru Hinekure & Aruko

I’m STILL squeeing about this adorable manga! I wish I could read Japanese because they’re already on Volume 9! I also just found out there’s a TV show version so I may try and figure that out soon. Mostly, I’m just glad my library had as many as they did and have my fingers crossed they’ll keep getting them as they’re released.

In this book, we have our first drama of the series, outside of the comedies of error. Aoki freaks out because of how nonchalant Ida is in telling people they’re dating. It comes from a well-meaning place, he doesn’t want either of them to get bullied, but it’s totally misplaced.

Book 957: My Love Mix-Up! (Vol. 3) – Wataru Hinekure & Aruko

This series continues to be so freakin’ adorable and wholesome and I’m not going to be waiting for the future volumes! The next one comes out later this fall with so many others still needing

Again continuing the story right after the last volume ended we find Aoki and Ida with Aida and Hashimoto and all their classmates on a winter ski trip. Aoki and Hashimoto are relegated to the D class because they’re so bad and Ida and Aida are in the A class.
