And there goes half of 2025. It’s been a year and the next six months I’m sure will continue to be one. OOF. Since my last update I’ve done a bit of travelling for work, a lot of knitting and podcasting, and even got some reading done too!
When this goes live, I’ll be down in NC (as can be seen by the photo) for my sister’s wedding. Thanks to being remote we were able to fly down and spend the week down here and get a little bit of quiet and relaxation before all the family arrives and the festivities begin. But, you’re here for the books so let’s get to it!
Books and Bookish Things
The big shock of the quarter is that I actually made the smallest dent on my TBR shelf. Like legit, I read two books that have been on my shelves for over a decade. This specifically comes from my 250th Austen birthday celebrations and wanting to read new-to-me adaptations. Joanna Trollope’s Sense & Sensibility adaptation was underwhelming and Adam Campan’s Emma adaptation, James Fairfax, was atrocious. Prior to that I went down a MM sports romance rabbit hole which was great and I’m looking forward to reading Mulder’s net SCU Hockey series installation.

- To the Moon and Back – N.R. Walker
- Sense and Second-Degree Murder (Jane Austen Murder Mystery #2) – Tirzah Price
- Shots on Net (SCU Hockey #1) – J.J. Mulder
- Save the Game (SCU Hockey #2) – J.J. Mulder
- Manslaughter Park (Jane Austen Murder Mystery #3) – Tirzah Price
- On the Edge (SCU Hockey #3) – J.J. Mulder
- Changing the Game (Offsides #1) – J.J. Mulder
- Square to the Puck (Offsides #2) – J.J. Mulder

- James Fairfax – Jane Austen and Adam Campan
- Sense & Sensibility (The Austen Project #1) – Joanna Trollope
Craft Corner
On the crafting front, I’ve stuck with my knitting podcast and am super proud about it. I did have a huge tech issue going into the June episode. I was using ClipChamp because it was free, relatively intuitive and that’s what I started with, but some update in May tanked it. So after recording my June episode I had to completely learn a new program from scratch and it was rough, but I got it out. Episode 7 is scheduled to be published July 5 assuming I can finish editing before the festivities kick off!
What’s Next?
I’m turning my sights towards my OG Austen novel re-reads and need to decide if I want to go easy to hard or reverse. It won’t take me six months to read them all, but it will take some time so I want to start them sooner rather than later. I’m also looking forward to reading My Roommate from Hell by Cale Dietrich, the only ARC I accepted from April to June.
What are you reading? Any summer plans?
