August, September and October Recap 2018

I’ve put off posting this since August 1. I actually had a draft scheduled for September 3, and again for both October 1 and November 2. And yet here we are almost two full weeks into November and It’s just now being posted.

When I started this post the first line was: Good Bye Summer/not really damn weather. Now it’s more like holy hell the cold has arrived (not really, but it was below freezing the morning I wrote this). I’m going to keep it pretty simple so I can just get this thing posted. I do have the last two books queued up but am spreading them out over the next two weeks so I at least get a post a week.

Books and Bookish Things
I haven’t read a lot since September. It’s been a long and rough couple of months, I might write more about it later, but for now I’m leaving it at that. I enjoyed finishing off my Harry Potter re-read back in August. I was less-than-impressed with the Shakespeare LGBT fan-fiction. I’m obsessed with Adams’ The Tip of the Iceberg and Boy Erased was heartbreaking. We took a long weekend in Maine in early October and I didn’t read, but it was the perfect place to read and I cannot wait to go back!

What we did in August, September, October and Early November
Part of the reason I haven’t been reading as much is because I picked up knitting needles again for the first time in a long time and I’ve done quite a few projects and learned quite a bit more through trial and error:

The teal is an extra long scarf for me, the white was a sampler where I was learning how to knit herringbone and star stitch (flat knot in the UK), the one with the five needles is where I learned how to knit in the round and made a very odd-looking hat, the gray is a scarf for a family member’s Christmas present, and the blue/white bulky one is Tim’s blanket for Christmas.

We also just did a lot in general from travelling around New England and visiting NC, to going to a concert, seeing a show having family visit and doing a crazy Halloween at work.

What’s Next?
I’m really hoping to get some reading done again. I’m part of the way into Crazy Rich Asians. I loved the film and can’t wait to actually get into the book, I just need a couple of hours without distractions. I have an unplanned week off the first week of December, which I’m really hoping will let me catch up on books, but who knows? With two knitting projects going and a third on the way, I may have over committed!

  2. Beautiful colours at the lakeside. Your kitting is seriously impressive. I can do thit basics but wouldn’t tackle any patterns as complex as your herringbone sampler. By the way there is a much easier way to knit in the round – you use a circular needle

  3. OK…much relieved. Not sure why, but the preview of this post, as it appeared in email, had a wring of….all done blogging, see ya. Glad I was mistaken. (cuz we’ve both known bloggers to do that…and they’ve every right, but it still makes me sad.)
