Book 776: Star Spanked (Holiday Romance #3) – Leighton Greene

Book cover of "Star Spanked" with Amazon Affiliate linkAnd to finish off 2020 I finish off the kinky romance trilogy I unexpectedly walked into. Instead of a Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa (those are so hard to find!) or New Year’s MM Romance I read a 4th of July Independence Day novel!? Oh well, I actually ended up reading one more MM Holiday Romance after the first because I forgot I’d put it on hold at the library.

Star Spanked finds us once again deep in the kink world of Los Angeles. We find out that Jon and Connor from Winter Wonders are now engaged (or married) and Tristan and Seth from Taming Tristan play a decent sized role in this novel as Ezra, a model seeking to get out of the industry is Tristan’s roommate. The other protagonist is semi-celebrity British ex-pat Sebastian.

Book 775: Taming Tristan (Winder Wonders #2) – Leighton Greene

Book cover of "Taming Tristan" with Amazon Affiliate linkIf Winter Wonders was an introduction to BDSM/kinky mm romance, this one directly to advanced. Not only are we thrown into the deep end of the LA kink scene, but we’re thrown into what I’m gathering is a pretty niche group, primal, within the scene.

This being said I felt Greene did a thorough job of further educating her readers about the various aspects of D/s play and relationships. I mean I feel more educated even if I did have to Google (incognito of course) various things.

Book 774: Winter Wonders (Holiday Romance #1) – Leighton Greene

Book cover of "Winter Wonders" with Amazon Affiliate linkIf you ever wonder what happens when you chose a series by the first book’s cover and title and commit to reading all of them without reading anything about them you end up reading a trilogy of MM Holiday Romance novels set in the Kink/BDSM community of Los Angeles. I read this as my 15th and (surprisingly) final book of my 12 Books of MM Romance binge. For some reason I assumed the whole trilogy was Christmas/Hanukkah based, but I definitely got that one wrong with Taming Tristan representing Valentine’s Day and Star Spanked representing Independence Day, so here we are.

Book 735: The Jane Austen Society – Natalie Jenner

Cover art of Talk about a change of pace! I kept putting this off when it came up from my library. I was loving all the MM romance and young adult books I’ve been reading, but I finally just said okay. It was 100% worth it to slow down and take the village life pace to read this and not rush through it like some of the high-intensity romances I’ve read recently.

I’m pretty sure I stumbled across this on bookstagram and new I’d get to it eventually. I don’t discriminate between books inspired by Austen’s works, life or legacy—they’re all fair game to me and each new one I read adds a new dimension to my understanding/enjoyment of Austen and her continued impact on society.

Book 731 & 732: Date Me, Bryson Keller – Kevin van Whye

Book cover of "Date Me, Bryson Keller" with amazon affiliate linkIt’s so nice I read it twice—no, seriously. I finished it and then the next morning decided I wanted to read it again. That’s twice this year (excluding illustrated/graphic novels)! The other double read this year was Two for Trust and the real connection of the two is that they could both be easily turned into one of those wonderfully cheesy made-for-TV movies that whenever you see it you just leave it on and inevitably get drawn into it.

You could definitely see where van Whye got his inspiration for this #ownvoices story. He acknowledged he was inspired by She’s All That from the 90s, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. And this definitely deserves to be up there with these great coming of age stories.
