Book 996: Hot Lips (The Hot Cannolis #4) – Tara Lain

This book, the conclusion of Eli Easton and Tara Lain’s The Hot Cannolis series, slid under my radar at the end of last year (totally blaming school for that one). I knew it was coming because Easton had written her solo of the series, and yet I still missed it.

I’m so glad Tito got a story! Ever since he was mentioned in one of the earlier books I knew he’d get a book and it would be different from the others. Tito was always described as slight and incredibly beautiful, unlike the other muscly hyper-masculine first-responder protagonists.

Book 990: Montana Sky (Montana #6) – R.J. Scott

This was by far my least favorite novel even though it was a return to the ranch with everything in the book happening there (except one scene). Only one of the protagonists was connected to the story at all, Martin, the kid of Adam Justin’s kidnappers who experienced just as much abuse and torment as they did. The other protagonist, Tyler, is a random seismologist (I think), who happened to realize there was a hole in the seismology network and convinced Nate, from book one, to let him put a detector on Crooked Tree Ranch property.

Book 989: Second Chance Ranch (Montana #5) – R.J. Scott

Book five of the R.J. Scott’s Montana series gives us an in-depth look at two characters who have made multiple quick appearances throughout the series so far. We have Rob, Justin’s (from A Cowboy’s Home) former Navy Seal ex-black ops teammate who has become the guardian of his two nephews but is facing impending death due to lead poisoning from a bullet, and Aaron, Ryan’s (from Snow in Montana) younger brother who is also ex-military and one of the local paramedics.

Book 988: Snow in Montana (Montana #4) – R.J. Scott

Not going to lie, this and the next, Second Chance Ranch, are probably my two favorites from this series. I think this one is up there because it’s a one because it’s a holiday romance and is super meta about holiday romance movies and I am 100% here for it even though I read this on a tropical vacation in the middle of February 😀 It’s also the first that doesn’t have a main character directly connected to the ranch.

There is still fallout occurring from Adam and Justin’s kidnapping that was revealed in the first few books, but I blocked it out because of this sweet romance. It helped that more of this romance took place off the ranch than some of the others and this story seemed to be more tightly written.

Book 987: A Cowboy’s Home (Montana #3) – R.J. Scott

I wasn’t too surprised with this novel continuing the trend of being set in the West on a ranch, but not necessarily being a Western Romance, but it opened a lot darker than I thought it would! I’m talking full-on fight scenes and murder for survival! And there’s nothing wrong with that Scott jumped right in and grabbed my attention and kept me hooked for the first half of the novel.

A Cowboy’s Home tells us the story of Ethan’s missing brother, Justin, and where he’s been ever since his disappearance. It also tells the story of Sam, the mouthy flirty cook at Crooked Tree Ranch.
