Book 1,003: Out on a Limb (Browerton University #2) – A.J. Truman

Book cover of "Out on a Limb" with Amazon Affiliate linkThis book took a big turn for the series. I’m not sure if they’ll all be quite this disjointed, but I won’t be surprised. We got a brief interaction with Ethan and Greg from book one and a couple of others from later books I think, but no real connectivity as Cameron is a friend of friends.

Out on a Limb is a May/December romance with Cameron, a “can’t be bothered with relationships” graduating and heading to Hollywood senior, and Walker, a recently divorced father of one (Hodie) who’s tied himself to a boring desk job after graduating from Browerton.

Book 1,002: Out in the Open (Browerton University #1) – A.J. Truman

Book cover of "Out in the Open" with amazon Affiliate linkI have no clue where this Kindle Unlimited book came from. I’m not sure if I saw the author on Instagram or someone else’s blog or (most likely) I randomly scrolled through Kindle Unlimited and saw it and thought oh university/college campus sure why not.

Out in the Open is the story of Ethan and Greg. Ethan is a second-year student with an itch to prove himself taking advanced classes and bee-lining his way to law school. In one of the classes he worked hardest to get into he meets Greg, a frat boy who is only attending the class because his dad is forcing him to. Needless to say, they don’t get along at first.

Book 1,001: Superhero – Eli Easton

Book cover of "Superhero" with Amazon Affiliate linkI kept going down the Eli Easton rabbit hole after completing the Nerds vs. Jocks series and stumbled across this in the Kindle Unlimited library. The blurb drew me in because childhood best friends to lovers is usually a really good trope, that’s usually with a gap in between after one comes out, but this one was different.

The protagonists of this novel are Jordan, a nerdy kid who loves to draw, and Owen, the big jock who becomes a state-wide wrestling star and has protected Jordan ever since he came out. It wasn’t until after I finished the novel that I realized some of the scenes may have happened when they were under age and that made me feel a little squidgy.

Book 983: Unexpecting – Jen Bailey

Book cover of "Unexpecting" with Amazon Affiliate linkWhen someone in the marketing department reached out about this back in December, I wasn’t I was going to read it as I’d had a very stressful fall with a new puppy and school and work, but the blurb stayed in my mind, and after a couple of days deliberation I finally said yes.* I mean I had months to read it so may as well say yes and then plan around my schedule.

Unexpecting was unexpectedly (hardy har har) charming. Was it perfect? No, but that’s okay. It was a fun easy-to-read debut with unique and memorable characters (main and supporting). The book brought a lot of emotions out of me from hating and then understanding Maxie’s parents to my wanting to shake some sense into Ben but also wanting to give him a big hug for trying so hard and finally seeing reality. It was definitely a whirlwind.

Book 981: Never Been Kissed (Boy Meets Boy #1) – Timothy Janovsky

Book cover of "Never Been Kissed" with Amazon Affiliate linkIn all honesty, I had no intention of reading this. I didn’t even know it existed, but when I stumbled across You’re a Mean One, Matthew Prince by Janovsky, and realized it was a series (that’s not connected as far as I’m aware) and the library had this one I grabbed it too.

And OMG am I glad I did.

I was a little annoyed at first as this is a bit of a copycat of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, but queerer and with a lot more humor (or at least my taste in humor). Wren sends emails to his four almost first kisses after a night out and the chaos ensues. After I got over that I was beyond invested because Janovsky was hilarious.
