Book 913: Word Nerd – John D. Williams, Jr.

Book Cover of "Word Nerds" with Amazon Affiliate linkI have no idea where I stumbled across this book. At first, I thought it was The Allusionist or 99% Invisible podcasts, but can’t find any mention of it on their sites and there’s nothing on NPR, aside from a review which I usually avoid, points to where it came from. I also didn’t purchase it from Amazon or any other online book retailer, so I must’ve randomly picked it up in a physical store and not tracked the purchase.

I’m glad I picked it up though! Not because I play SCRABBLE, because I’m not great at it, but because it just had a great title and subtitle and I figured it’d be an interesting read and it truly was.

Book 829: Out of Character (True Colors #2) – Annabeth Albert

Book cover of "Out of Character" with Amazon Affiliate linkIf there’s one thing I don’t like about reading series as they’re released it’s all the small details I forget  between the books! I vaguely remember Jasper from Conventionally Yours, but only just. However, Annabeth Albert is the pinnacle when it comes to MM romances so when the opportunity arose I jumped for a review copy!*

Out of Character is the story of childhood best friends Jasper, nerdy gaymer geek with a heart of gold, and Milo, sporty problem child who hasn’t quite figured his life out yet. They stopped being friends when they were younger when Milo abandoned Jasper for his jock friends and Jasper held on to that hurt until this book. And I think second chance romances might be slowly climbing my trope list because this one was freakin’ adorable.

Book 730: Conventionally Yours (True Colors #1) – Annabeth Albert

Book cover of "Conventionally Yours" with Amazon Affiliate linkI’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing I let so much time pass between finishing this and writing this review. If I would’ve written this right after I finished it would’ve been effusive and glowing, but about a week later it’s much more measured (I think).

It’s no secret that I adore Albert’s books—seriously, I created a tag so it’s even easier for you to find them and I’m slowly working my way through her entire back list, but this one hasn’t stayed with me like some of her other series. Don’t be mistaken, I thoroughly enjoyed it and my adoration of Albert has not lessened, I think maybe it’s just matured.

March Recap 2019

March was incredibly busy, mostly thanks to a week-long cruise to the Caribbean. So it was relaxing busy—that’s a thing right?

The best part though, was when we got on our plane to Florida it was snowing and then we were in the Caribbean for a week. FANTASTIC. In addition the annual video game exposition, PAX East, came to Boston and we went this past Sunday.
