May Recap 2020

Over sized bowl with a partially eaten salad sitting on top of a laptop.Another month of being home—this really hit home when I went to grab photos for this recap post and they were all home-based . . . again. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been working from home full time eleven weeks now, but not that hard anymore. With Tim being in healthcare and working directly with COVID-10 patients we’ve been a lot more cautious than a lot of people we know (more for their sake than ours). Thankfully, it hasn’t been too trying because we’re both pretty introverted.

2019 Year-End Recap

snap shot of Goodreads year in reviewI’m six months from hitting 10 years of blogging on this site. That’s an achievement in and of itself. I’m sure that recap will be more interesting than this one as I’ve kept this one to mostly stats and facts ranging for the 2019 calendar year.

Overall most of my stats were up on the reading front. I think that’s from having a job that I’m enjoying with a great team and finally being able to relax a bit in my non-work life. I’ve also spent time reading more graphic novels and young adult novels (hey numbers boost :-D)

Falling Leaves & Turning Pages

With the fall leaves almost gone and daylight saving time behind us in the US, I thought it’d be a good time to look at some of my favorite fall reads. I missed the boat on Halloween reads, but I’ve included a bonus list at the end of some great Halloween reads!

October Recap 2019

It’s fall y’all! Although, in New England it’s rapidly approaching winter with how fast the leaves are changing. We made what has apparently become our annual trip up to Northern(ish) Maine to spend a quite weekend getting ready for all the holiday travel and to of course see the leaves changing colors. It was well worth the drive even if the house we rented was just past the peak leaf-peeping line. We stayed in Rangeley, Maine in the lakes region and visited UMaine Farmington on one of the days we were up there.

September Recap 2019

Kicked off the end of August and beginning of September with a long weekend up in Acadia National Park, Maine so thought I’d include a beautiful sunrise photo to wrap up the month.

Work has moved into full speed for the season, so I’m surprised I read as much as I did. I’ve also spent time reading longer articles on my to be read list (aka my Instapaper app), some of which have been there since January! I’m reading plenty of longer pieces (45-90 minutes reading time) and the good part about it is that I’ve read a wide range of articles from (closeted) gay neo-Nazis to millennials as the burn out generation, and weirdly this puts less stress on my goal of reading a nonfiction book every month.
