Book 912: Tender with a Twist (Rainbow Cove #2) – Annabeth Albert

Book cover of "Tender with a Twist" with Amazon Affiliate linkAnd this is what I get when I don’t read the blurb on the back cover—a much kinker romance than I was expecting ¯_(ツ)_/¯. I figured out who the protagonists would be pretty quickly in book one, Trust with a Chaser, but I 100% missed it’d be this kinky if there were any hints!

I do love that Albert likes to spice things up every now and then and that it doesn’t change her character-driven slow-burn romances, so really even if it just pushes me outside of my normal comfort zones I’m here for it.

Book 908: Sink or Swim (Shore Leave #2) – Annabeth Albert

Book cover of "Sink or Swim" with Amazon Affiliate linkYessssssss . . . I’m so glad Calder got his book and that I was able to snag a review copy from NetGalley as soon as it was listed. I’ve been sitting on it FOR MONTHS—do you know how hard that is when it comes to an Annabeth Albert book!? I had to force myself to read soooooo many other books so I wouldn’t push my response out too soon!!!!

Sink or Swim is a low-conflict simmering romance and Albert brings her character-driven humor to the story just like she does to all of her other works. Calder is Arthur’s (from Sailor Proof) older brother who happens to be bisexual and thrives on competition and gambling. And after winning a house from a fellow SEAL, he has the best meet-cute ever with Felix, flustered and guarded single-parent taking care of his two nieces, at the house he thinks he owns.

Book 898: Trust with a Chaser (Rainbow Cove #1) – Annabeth Albert

Book cover of "Trust with a Chaser" with Amazon Affiliate linkOh, Annabeth Albert, how I love thee . . . seriously though, I should just write an ode to here and be done with my reviews. I say this even though there are some of her earlier books that aren’t as well written as her more recent books, where she’s really coming into her own, they’re still REALLY good books.

This is one of those examples even though it’s not that old. Originally published in 2017, it just doesn’t have quite the polish as her more recent series even though it has a lot of the things that make her works great.

2021 Year-End Recap

Well, year two of the global coronavirus pandemic saw my reading go up even more than it did last year! From the number of books being up by five (thanks MM Romance novels) to the number of pages being up by a little under 3k (thanks big-ass-doorstopper books), it was just a big year.

I highly doubt I’ll see this trend continue between work being busy again and little-to-no commute and knitting taking up a lot of my free time, but never say never right?

Book 880: The Geek Who Saved Christmas – Annabeth Albert

Book cover of "The Geek Who Saved Christmas" with Amazon Affiliate linkYa’ll, I’m still not sure Annabeth Albert can write a bad book. I’m serious, she’s written books I was sort of meh about but they weren’t bad, they just weren’t for me and that’s okay. A few months ago I finally joined her Facebook group (Annabeth’s Angels) and have thoroughly enjoyed it and it was how I ended up with an ARC of this adorable Christmas romp.*

It took longer to get to than expected, stupid work, but as soon as I started reading I blazed through it. I want to note right off that I am so impressed with this ARC, it had fewer errors than many final books I read by self-published authors. I expect nothing less from Albert, but this was her first self-published ARC I’ve read even though I’ve read others via her publishers on NetGalley.
