April Recap 2023

Well I’m only a week later this time and not THREE MONTHS 😀 That’s an improvement, right? Right? I would’ve had this published on time last week (I’m back-scheduling it), but the last final of my first year was due so yeah nope.

Either way, have a cute picture of Barnaby, this dog has gotten so big, but he still has the cutest face. I mean look at him. He’s a teddy bear, just a 65+ pound one. [More photos at the end of what he does to that sofa usually.]

The big news of April/early May is that I’m HALF-WAY through my grad program and don’t have classes for an entire month!!!! And even then over the summer, it’s only one night a week until fall. I am SO ready for this “break”. The best part is that just one week out, my brain finally has room for non-school work. So I’m catching up on blog posts again and getting things checked off my non-school list.

He loves Tim so much. This was right after he’d basically climbed on his shoulder and then was like nah I want kisses!

Books and Bookish Things
I read most of a MM Romance series this month. I probably could’ve read more, but toward the end, they weren’t as good and I found more and more typos/errors so I slowed down dramatically. Each book had a little something enjoyable, but I’d still rate all of them in the 2-3 star range. Here’s another cute picture of Barnaby to compensate for the meh reading.

  1. Out in the Open (Browerton University #1) – A.J. Truman
  2. Out on a Limb (Browerton University #2) – A.J. Truman
  3. Out of My Mind (Browerton University #3) – A.J. Truman
  4. Out for the Night (Browerton University #4) – A.J. Truman
  5. Out of This World (Browerton University #5) – A.J. Truman
  6. Outside Looking In (Browerton University #6) – A.J. Truman

I’m still reading and looking at other blogs but doing a horrible job of actually commenting/interacting with them. I generally binge them in the morning while mentally preparing for work and then by the time I think about leaving a comment my brain is so far elsewhere. Both of these came up on Colossal, and we all know I love them for their book art:

I’m always torn with deconstructive book art. It’s like should we do that to books, but knowing how many books end up in landfills from libraries and bookstores, I’m like okay I can see the use of it.

What’s Next?
I’m looking forward to having a month with no class. Thankfully it’s the same month when work really picks up so it’ll be a decent tradeoff. I’ve got a couple of galleys coming up in May and June, so definitely need to plan for those. I’m still mostly sticking to MM Romance with the occasional YA Lit thrown in because that’s about all my brain can handle at the moment. I played Stardew Valley for the first time in over a year this past weekend and it was glorious. I have no idea what I’m going to do with all my free time once I’m done with school!
