We had a busy month full of hiking, travel, and knitting.
We kicked the month off by flying to Dallas for a family wedding and got to spend time with all of Tim’s family, but most importantly the niblings. It was great to see everyone, but what a whirlwind trip. We also had a bit of free time the day before the wedding and got to experience the Main St Fort Worth Arts Festival and Fort Worth Art Fair (hilariously even met an artist from Western Mass that we had a piece shipped home from).
We also made more headway on our hiking the Blue Hills having now completed 6 of the 20 hikes I pulled off the list of best Blue Hill hikes.
Books and Bookish Things
I read more than I thought I would considering how much time I spent knitting and traveling. I even ticked a really old TBR off my list which felt nice, even if it was a disappointment. I read a lot of galleys (*) and have quite a few more coming up over the next couple of months. I’m not too worried about it as I am actually making way on my TBR list.

- Young Jane Austen: Becoming a Writer – Lisa Pliscou
As for recent acquisitions, this looks a lot longer than it is. I took advantage of Amazon providing quite a few books for free on World Book Day (+). I grabbed most of them because they sounded fascinating but more importantly because I always want to try and read more translated works. In addition, I ended up with quite a few galleys, many of which don’t come out for MONTHS!

I’m looking forward to so many of these, but first I want to get through a couple of Kindle Unlimited MM Romances from Annabeth Albert (Hope on the Rocks) and Charlie Novak (Breakaway). I just have to really be regimented with my reading to make sure I get some time to read, or else it’ll all be lost to knitting and being outdoors, which isn’t a negative.
What’s Next?
We’re flying back to Texas end of May for a bunch of graduations, we’ve got an anniversary trip (holy shit 8 years), and then a birthday trip for Tim in early June, so more travel is on the horizon. How stinkin’ adorable is this photo though? It’s Tim and his youngest nephew Liam looking out over Fort Worth. SWOON.
Time is about to get even more crunched as this is my last free month before school starts. and work picks up A LOT in May and June. Thankfully, it’s only one class over the summer, but fall will be really interesting when I take two classes and work full time.
I’m almost done knitting my first top-down sweater and am SOOOO excited. There was a week-or-so delay because I calculated how much yarn I needed wrong. UGH. I’ll move to smaller projects over the summer so it’s less hot while knitting, but this is about the time my knitting slows down.
