June Recap 2021

I am currently sitting poolside in Aruba waiting for the towel hut to open so we can reserve our chairs for the day. It is luxurious.

If things had gone to plan we would’ve been somewhere in Europe right now on a cruise ship, but they didn’t so I’m on this ridiculously beautiful and temperate island averaging a book every other day and getting a seriously nice tan 😀 We also spent a long weekend up in Maine earlier in the month for Tim’s actual birthday, so this month has just been travel travel travel.

Work has been busy, but thankfully my team was able to get things done super early for the end of our fiscal year, so I haven’t had to stress at all while out. We celebrated a team member’s retirement, and I went into the office to “work” for the first time since last March. It was weird, but also kind of refreshing.

Books and Bookish Things
I can’t believe looking back at this list of books what all I read this month. Kill Switch feels like decades ago and I most definitely got lost in summer romances 😀 But with a poolside chair and a constant breeze (right), it’s no wonder I’ve read so much this month!

Kill Switch was a fascinating read and really felt like a scathing commentary on lack of education in this country. I shouldn’t really be surprised with who controls the textbook industry, but damn are we screwed. In addition, I read five ARCs and a ton of Kindle Unlimited (if they’re good for anything they’re good for romances :-D).

  1. Kill Switch – Adam Jentleson*
  2. Treble Maker (Perfect Harmony #1) – Annabeth Albert
  3. Love Me Tenor (Perfect Harmony #2) – Annabeth Albert
  4. A Husband for Hartwell (The Lords of Bucknall Club #1) – J.A. Rock & Lisa Henry*
  5. All Note Long (Perfect Harmony #3) – Annabeth Albert
  6. Dream Bound (Tasier #1) – Arian Williams*
  7. Say Yes to A Mess – Elle Brownlee
  8. His Compass (His #2) – Con Riley
  9. Flash Fire (The Extraordinaries #2) – T.J. Klune*
  10. Bennet, Pride Before the Fall (Love, Austen #3) – Anyta Sunday*

I also grabbed quite a few more romance ARCs, but you need those these days 😀 AND Albert had a flash sale on her Hotshots series, so I picked up the first three for $1.99 TOTALeven though I already had the first one (whoops).

Friend gave me some thread and OMG it’s been so much fun reliving summer camp via arts and crafts.

What’s Next?
I’ve got my next 10 or so books planned out, which I had to do because of Aruba and library books and turning off my Kindle Wi-Fi 😀 I’m making headway on my backlog of ARCs which is good because I keep adding more. I’ve actually got a nonfiction lined up too, so I should hit my goal of one a month.

We’re done traveling for a bit after this trip, but that’s good because in August I start rotating into the office once a week before we shift into full hybrid mode. But before then, I’ve got another eight days in Aruba to fully relax and enjoy 😀

    1. It’s wonderful. I don’t want to leave and we still have plenty of time here
