What I learned with this item, and really what I’ve learned in 30 years, is that not everything is perfect and sometimes you just have a bad year or a bad time. So rather than stressing over the fact that this changed three different times and I didn’t technically complete it, I’m focusing on the fact that I finished 29 items and had one freebie that just didn’t work out. I mean I know I had more than one year in the past 30Â that wasn’t great so I’m just going to accept it and be happy I did everything else to the best I could.
#6 originally started out as running a half-marathon. When I hurt my ankle pretty bad in July that became obsolete. I tried to keep it in the physical category by converting it to a five-to-ten mile leisure bike ride. I’d ridden my bike more than that to work and over to friend’s places, but never just to enjoy the beauty around me, but that didn’t work out either. The day I decided to do it, the last really nice day this fall, IÂ got home from work to find my bike was stolen from the front porch, again making this item obsolete.
Rather than getting mad I decided to use it as a chance to get back to meditation for the next few weeks from my birthday. But being lazy (I can’t even blame it on busyness), I didn’t meditate everyday. I meditated most days and it was nice to get back to it, but it just didn’t feel right some days. There’s a form of meditation I plan on trying in the new year where you focus on an object or something like that and not on clearing your thoughts. I feel the hyper focused-ness will work in my favor.
