Book 957: My Love Mix-Up! (Vol. 3) – Wataru Hinekure & Aruko

Book cover of "My Love Mix-Up! Vol. 3" with Amazon Affiliate linkThis series continues to be so freakin’ adorable and wholesome and I’m not going to be waiting for the future volumes! The next one comes out later this fall with so many others still needing

Again continuing the story right after the last volume ended we find Aoki and Ida with Aida and Hashimoto and all their classmates on a winter ski trip. Aoki and Hashimoto are relegated to the D class because they’re so bad and Ida and Aida are in the A class.

We get to see Ida being so adorable (and still 100% unaware) bringing Aoki food because their food is rationed and they’re required to take extra lessons. And it’s Ida who recommends they all run away for a bit.

Something, of course, happens after they split off from each other (aka Aoki wants to give Hiroshima a chance to talk to Aida alone) and forces Aoki to really show he can ski and win a medal. It also results in Ida telling Aoki they should try dating. They do and it’s both adorable and painful, Ida is so earnest in his obliviousness and Aoki is so over the top in his wanting to make sure they’re both safe and okay and not being bullied. Their first date is totally adorable and forces Ida to face that he may like Aoki back and not just be giving him the chance by dating him.

There are more mix-ups and the comedy of error continues through the end of this volume with Ida proving he’s even more oblivious than we all thought even though he’s deadpan started sharing with friends and others that he and Aoki are dating because why wouldn’t he (it’s logical). There’s a great side story with Hiroshima and Aida that had me laughing for a good 10 minutes after the scene ended (let’s just say haircut threats make it interesting).

Recommendation: I’m still loving it and appreciate the total lack of contact between them. I mean there are a few more touches (hair rustles, hand grabbing to lead somewhere), but the sweetness is both everything and killing me! Aoki remains an emotional mess and 100% on his sleeves kind of guy, and we’re starting to see cracks in Ida’s façade. Hiroshima and Aida are going to be an interesting storyline to see over the next few volumes, I wonder if they will get together. The trip down memory lane in this one was hilarious and 100% Aoki.
