October Recap 2020

Sunrise over Carson Beach in south bostonOctober was a blur, work continues from home and the only thing to change things up was a long weekend out in the Berkshires (western Massachusetts) for Indigenous People’s day. The weather has been changing rapidly here, my morning walks have been completely in the dark and this past Friday (October 30) it SNOWED (end of post picture).

We visited Hancock Shaker Village which was really neat (two photos below) and drove through a lot of the small towns and just enjoyed spending some time in Lenox and Stockbridge that we’ve visited in the past but only fleetingly as we’ve avoided the crowds in the past.

Class is slowly chugging along so my leisure reading has steady pretty slow this month. I had noble intentions of reading more of my galley backlog, but I only got to one thanks to Annabeth Albert sucking me back in and the library conveniently having both books available 😀

  1. Darius the Great is Not Okay (Darius the Great #1) – Adib Khorram
  2. Tight Quarters (Out of Uniform #6) – Annabeth Albert
  3. Rough Terrain (Out of Uniform #7) – Annabeth Albert

I didn’t pick up any books other than accepting one more galley, Live Life Colorfully by Jason Naylor, which I won’t receive for a few months.

What’s Next?
We officially made the decision we’re not travelling to see family for the holidays so now we get to figure out if we want to stay in Boston or try and find somewhere in New England to rent, so who knows. All I hope is that as class wraps up toward the end of the month I can actually get back into leisure reading again.

  1. The snow is beautiful! We’re wondering how the holidays are going to play out here, too. I actually wouldn’t mind a Christmas at home, just us. It has never happened before so it would be a nice change, plus I’ll have two weeks off from work so it would be a good chance to really relax and unwind. We’ll see…

    1. It was beautiful and even more beautiful when it was gone 48 hours later 😀 That’s also what we’re thinking we always travel for the holidays so being at home with our own Christmas tree in our own beds could be a very nice change of pace.

  2. What lovely photos of your travels and wow, look at that snow!! I am pleased (if not a little jealous) you have been able to enjoy some travelling, whilst fitting in class and a bit of comfort reading. We are now sadly in our second lockdown here in England – Silver-lining: I suppose I have plenty of time to catch up on my reading. Take care and happy reading! 👋📚🙂

    1. I’ve been watching England and Europe and know we’re not far behind. It’s sad that we can’t actually pay attention to the world so we’ve begun preparing for the eventually restrictions here (our governor has already tightened some). You are right though, hopefully with the cooler weather and the at-home time you’ll be able to get some reading. We’ve turned our fireplace back on for the year so have already enjoyed a couple of evenings reading in front of it! 😀
