April Recap 2020

Holy, reading Batman! I read 12 books this month thanks to a hot streak of MM romance novels and I’m astounded at that number.

Aside from reading I’ve spent time knitting, baking, and, over the last week, obsessively playing Animal Crossing. I also dug out my DVD case because I was desperate to watch Pride and Prejudice (2005) and it was only streaming on one service we don’t have.

I’ve spent so much time baking though and exploring sourdough.

Books and Bookish Things
As I said above, I read TWELVE books this month. I actually finished a thirteenth, but it was after midnight so technically May 1st. I’m clearly on a MM romance streak—nine of the twelve were MM romance—and three were ARCs. I was excited to find a new MM romance author that I enjoy, K.C. Wells, since I’m slowly nearing the end of Annabeth Albert’s collection.

  1. Enter the Aardvark – Jessica Anthony*
  2. Connection Error (#gaymers #3) – Annabeth Albert
  3. Level Up (#gaymers #4) – Annabeth Albert
  4. The Play of His Life – Amy Aislin*
  5. Off Base (Out of Uniform #1) – Annabeth Albert
  6. The Sealed Letter – Emma Donoghue
  7. My Fair Brady – K.C. Wells
  8. The Senator’s Secret – K.C. Wells
  9. A Christmas Cabin for Two – K.D. Fisher
  10. Suddenly Yours – Jacob Z. Flores
  11. The Last Day – Andrew Hunter Murray*
  12. Under the Covers – K.C. Wells

The craziest thing that happened while reading was when I read the first few pages of The Last Day and the line to the right came up about the start of the end of the world. A little on the nose for these times, right?

Kindle had a few new releases for less than $5 that I was hoping to read, so of course I grabbed them on sale.

  • The Water Dancer – Ta-Nehisi Coates
  • The Underground Railroad – Colson Whitehead
  • Dear Girls – Ali Wong

On the social media front, this was going around earlier in the month and I really liked it:

On the knitting front, I finally finished the cap (left) I was working on for months! It’s a little lopsided and doesn’t quite fit Tim, but at least I learned some new skills, right? And I cast on a new present for a friend that hasn’t gotten very far because of Animal Crossing and MM romance novels, but it was nice to start a new one.

What’s Next?
Depending on how long quarantine continues we’ll see how much I read this month. I have a couple more ARCs to try and get through this month and I know for a fact there are a few more MM romances on my kindle/iPad 😀

  1. Good to hear you have kept yourself busy with knitting, baking and reading. I have also been reading and cooking more in quarantine, although not as many books as you! But five books read is over-average for me, especially as two of them were long! Take care and happy reading in May! 😃

    1. Hahaaa, honestly I’m not sure I should count the romance novels they’re such fast and easy reads. Happy May to you!
