Introducing: Bibliophilanthropy.org

2016 01-19 Bibliophilanthropy Prep

Happy Valentine’s Day! What better way to celebrate a day of love than sharing that Bibliophilanthropy.org is fully live and open to the public! I hope you will join me in creating a philanthropic community of book bloggers and lovers. If you have any questions after checking out the site definitely get in touch!

I’ve been developing Bibliophilanthropy.org off and on since November 2015 and you can read about it here on the site. It’s something I believe in and is a great way for the book blogging/loving community to come together and put our money where our mouths are.

There are still a few things I’m hoping to implement on the site over the next couple of weeks (including a forum for discussions), but I finally realized I had to push the site out or I would never get to it. I definitely couldn’t have gotten this far without help from fellow book bloggers Heather, Sarah and Carolyn and my friends Alie, Caitrin and Carlie. (And many others who have seen the many iterations of the preview sites.) I’m working hard to implement many ideas they’ve suggested, but it’s just me so it will take some time.

On a personal aside, I never realized how time-consuming content generation is. With a book blog it’s fairly simple: you read a book, you digest/regurgitate/review it and you post your response/review. With something like this it’s a bit more challenging. I’m buried in the depths of a work project that is also all about content generation I’m going to have to learn very quickly how to juggle things and stick to a real schedule.

    1. Yeah I had to push it out or it was going to stay hidden until after March. The real challenge is going to be recruiting people! Just have to stick with it.
